Tibetan New Year is celebrated under the watchful eye of the Chinese Authorities in Gansu Province.Within the Amdo region of Tibet, Xiahe is home to Labrang Monastery, one of the 6 most important monasteries of Tibetan Buddhism.It is occupied by some 1500 monks of the Gelugpa, or Yellow Hat, sect of Mahayana Buddhsim.March 2011.
